Building companies shortlisted for sustainable award

Builders merchant Jewson and building materials suppliers Coillte Panel Products and Kingspan Insulation have been shortlisted for the 2013 ICAEW Sustainable Business Award.
To reach this stage, all the companies must have embedded business sustainability principles and practices and will be able to show the benefits through improved commercial performance, competitiveness, customer perception and staff engagement.

In the next stage of the award, they will be required to make presentations about their sustainability strategy to an expert jury.

ICAEW chief executive Michael Izza says: “Businesses have to re-think the way they do business, re-working their strategies in the light of the imperative of sustainability rather than maintaining existing business models and adjusting for environmental and regulatory requirements.

The ICAEW award is one of the 17 annual National Business Awards. The winners of the 2013 awards will be announced at a dinner in London on 12 November.
