Builders merchant to climb Snowdon once a week

Andrew Craig from the Caernarfon branch of builders merchant Tarvis Perkins is aiming to climb Mount Snowdon at least once a week in aid of the Breast Cancer Campaign.

A part-time firefighter, he’s already done it four times this year, despite the awful weather and thick snow.

“What have I let myself in for?” he said to buildersmerchantsjournal.net.

Later in the year Craig aims to take groups of people up in order to raise as much money for his chosen charity as possible. People can join him for a £25 donation.

“Things are going very well indeed,” he said. “I started off hoping to raise £1,000 over the year. I’ve already raised that target to £2,500 and I think that’s going to get beaten too. I’ve already raised more than £500. People are very kind and generous and a lot have said they want to walk up the mountain with me.

“Every two years, Travis Perkins picks a different charity to raise money for. This year the company has decided to raise money for breast cancer charities.

A record of his treks will be on the website, www.justgiving.com/Andrew-Craig where anyone can make donations.
