Anne Ganley, managing director of independent builders merchant Thompson Building Centres in Sunderland is on her way to climb Mount Everest for charity.
Among the sponsorships that Ganley has received so far is that of Tavistock Italia restaurants in Sunderland, Hartlepool and Middlesdbrough. The chain’s special Mount Everest Pizza – chicken breast, garlic butter, mixed peppers, caramelised red onions, black olives on a tomato base – was sold at £8.50 with £1 from each going to Ganley’s sponsorship fund.
As well as meeting the very personal challenge, Ganley is hoping to raise cash for a range of charities very close to her heart, including St Oswald’s Hospice, St Benedict’s Hospice, Grace House children’s hospice, Brothers in Arms, The Bobby Robson Cancer Care Centre and the Salvation Army.
“We’ve delighted to be able to support this fantastic trip and thought this was a great way to raise money from our customers, “said Mark Hird, managing director of Tavistock Leisure.
“We think we’ve come up with the kind of pizza that lots of people will enjoy so hopefully we will be able to really help these worthy causes and support Anne.”
