Also this year Buildbase, part of Grafton Group’s UK merchanting operation, opened greenfield sites in Basingstoke and Harlow in February, Norwich in March, Exeter in April and Bow in May. They also acquired Manhood Builders Merchants in Selsey and JS Jones in Neath.

Radstock Buildbase was officially opened by two students from Fosse Way School, a special school close to the branch. To mark the occasion the branch will be donating building materials to the school for students to learn basic building skills.

The 150th milestone has also prompted the company to pledge to raise £150,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Each branch will be encouraged to contribute towards the total via some creative fundraising activities.

Chief executive Kevin Middleton said: “We haven’t stood still for a moment. The day after launching our 150th branch, we were opening another greenfield site, this time in Evesham.”
