The event saw 15 teams from around the UK race around the Solent on luxury ‘Oceanis 37’ yachts.

Customers and suppliers took part in the event, in aid of the Rainbow Trust, with IBP Conex taking first place. The winning team was crewed by IBP Conex md David Odlin, Ged Hunter, BSS Maidstone branch manager plus four key customers and an experienced skipper.

The Geberit team took home the runner-up award.

Frank Elkins, BSS Industrial managing director said: “Race day was a massive test of endurance and skill, both for the experienced and the novice sailors. The wind definitely added a certain adrenaline rush to an already exciting race this year.

“It was a great occasion to spend some time with our customers and we hope they had a memorable experience. We would like to thank each of them for taking part and our suppliers for their support, as the event wouldn’t have been possible without them.”

Sponsors of the 2011 BSS Industrial Challenge Cup were: Crane, Durapipe, Flamco, Geberit, George Fischer, Grundfos, IBP Conex, ISG, Marla, Metsec, Mueller, Pegler Yorkshire, Polypipe, Wilo and Yorkshire Copper Tube.
