The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has added Britain’s richest plumber, Charlie Mullins, to its line-up of speakers for BMF Members Day in September.
Mullins launched Pimlico Plumbers in 1979 with just a bag of tools and a very old van bought at auction. His company now has a £20m turnover, 200 professional trades people and a support team of around 50 staff, serving customers across London including some of the world’s most famous names such as James Bond star Daniel Craig and actress Dame Helen Mirren.
His company’s iconic blue and white vans can also been seen in Spain after Mullins launched a Marbella branch of the company last year to serve both local and expat customers.
Described as outspoken and sometimes controversial, he has starred in Channel 4’s ‘Secret Millionaire’ and the BBC’s ‘Young Plumber of the Year’ programmes and is a regular business commentator in the national media.
BMF MD, John Newcomb, said: “It’s a real coup to secure Charlie Mullins for Members Day, and highly appropriate in the year that sees the launch of the BMF’s Plumbing & Heating Sector. This is a man who is not afraid to put his head above the parapet. We can expect the unexpected from his presentation, which is sure to be entertaining as well as thought provoking.”
Members Day will be held between the 16-17 September at the Whittlebury Hall, Northamptonshire. The event is supported by headline sponsor ACO Academy and this year’s theme is ‘accelerating growth’.
