Sustainable Building Solutions, part of the Travis Perkins Group, played host to twenty-five delegates from the Brazilian construction industry organisation SEBRAE.
The Brazilians were keen to gain a greater understanding of sustainable building strategies.
Brazil’s construction industry is preparing for a step change with the Government set to invest an estimated £320 billion in infrastructure and urban development ahead of the 2014 World Cup and the Olympics in 2016.
The fact-finding visit was organised by BRE, who’ve previously worked with the Travis Perkins Group to provide a series of free new-build and retrofit construction drawings to the UK market.
Following a visit to the Olympic Park, SBS representatives welcomed the delegation at the new Travis Perkins Gravesend branch. The team explained the steps that the Travis Perkins Group has taken to minimise its environmental impact and showed the group’s solution based approach: providing thermally modelled construction drawings, training courses, a freephone helpline and on-site services.
Paul Joyner, Director of SBS said: “The Travis Perkins Group is totally committed to sustainable building. We were please at how interested the Brazilian delegates were in the details of our internal and external sustainable building training programmes and the investment that we have made in technical expertise, which is freely available to our customers”.
