Bradfords buys two Burden branches

Independent builders merchant group The Bradfords Group has bought two former WT Burden branches.

From Friday (November 23) the depots at Cinderford in Gloucestershire and Dorchester in Dorset will trade as Bradfords Building Supplies Ltd.

Burdens has been the subject of speculation since restructuring its finances in Febuary. It sold 22 branches to rival Wolseley UK earlier this month.

Bradfords Building Supplies managing director Dennis Smith said: “This acquisition is in line with our strategy to add branches within our geographical trading area, and I am very excited about the opportunities the deal creates. This strengthens our network in two areas where we have been looking to develop further.

“We are delighted to welcome the new staff into the Bradfords family.

“As for our customers and suppliers, existing and new, this is a clear demonstration of our commitment to continue to grow the Bradfords network of branches to our mutual benefit.”
