Independent builders merchant Builders Merchant Company Ltd has opened its third branch in three years in Goole, East Yorkshire.
The site consists of a 25,000 sq ft warehouse, external yard and separate show room facilities, and will be a flagship branch for the company. Due to its size and location along the M62 corridor, the site will act as a central distribution centre for BMC allowing the company to feed goods throughout Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire and its other branches in Scunthorpe, Hull and Rotherham.
Duncan Thomson, BMC managing director, says: ‘The new site will allow us to take the company to the next level, giving us an effective transport model throughout Yorkshire and the North. This site outlines the results of our growth as a company over the last five years, and sets a marker for us moving forward on our development curve. I am so looking forward to seeing what branch five has to offer.”
Finance director, Jane Thomson adds: ‘Joining the National Buying Group has given us the confidence, resource, and clout to open such a large new greenfield site. We are very excited with this new strategic company development.’
The branch development programme has been under the guidance of regional operations manager Steve Quigley and Matt Hawkins, who said: “To have the chance to be able to build the branch from the very start of its inauguration has been a fantastic opportunity for me, and not something I believe I would have the opportunity to do at any other company. I cannot wait to make this branch the thriving success which I know it will become.”
