BLP call in administrators

MDF mouldings manufacturers BLP Ltd have gone into administration.
BLP UK Ltd, one of the country’s largest manufacturers of wrapped MDF mouldings and cabinet doors, has gone into administration.

Lyn Vardy and David Ian Green of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Sheffield have been appointed joint administrators of BLP, who supply wrapped MDF mouldings, cabinet doors, membrane pressed cabinet doors, veeners and flexible panels.

The company operates out of a 25,000sq ft factory in Doncaster and, according to the administrators, suffered some considerable losses as a result of the housing downturn .

The business continues to trade while a buyer is being sort. Staffing levels are being reviewed but the majority of employees are expected to be kept on in the short term.

Vardy said: “It is clearly very disappointing that the company has been placed into insolvency proceedings, particularly for the employees. It is indicative of the pressures being faced by the housing and home improvement market which is now beginning to impact on its suppliers. We would invite any interested parties to contact us as soon as possible.”
