BladeRunner cuts plasterboard time in half

Gyproc Professional Tools’ new BladeRunner plasterboard tool cuts both sides of the board at the same time, reducing cutting time by half.

The easy to use, hand-held device BladeRunner also makes it easier to cut arcs, shapes and corners and it means the board can be cut whilst vertical.

With BladeRunner, two magnetic parts cut both sides of the plasterboard at the same time, then the section is cleanly snapped away. Compared with using a standard utility knife, BladeRunner is twice as fast and, because the user moves forward rather than backwards, The blades are also concealed inside the unit so this also means fewer chances of on-site accidents.

BladeRunner cuts 12.5mm, 15mm board, as well as specialist boards like Gyproc Fireboard, MoistureResistant Board and SoundBlock.

Supporting the launch is a range of promotional activity from breakfast mornings with merchant stockists to advertising, point of sale literature, a quick reference guide and a specialist website.

For merchants, the new tool offers the opportunity to sell customers a tool that will really help to improve their workload and sell something that their competitors aren’t, says marketing director Stacy Davies. “There’s nothing else like it on the market.”

It also offers good margin opportunities, selling out at a list price of £35, slightly more than the top end utility knife, she continues. “However, we estimate that it will last four years before it needs to be replaced which is a saving for the user. In the meantime, the replacement blades are packaged in handy packs of six or 12, making ideal link sale products.”

There is also a specialised holster, which holds the BladeRunner tool and two spare blade cartridges, and managing director Craig Chambers says he believes there is room for a whole family of BladeRunner products to be developed.
