Branch manager Neil Grigg realised that an empty space in the branch could be used more efficiently to offer local tradesmen a valuable new service.

“Our main offering here is kitchens, but we wanted to offer tradesmen a complete one-stop shop so they have everything they need to complete a project in one place,” he says.

“Doors and flooring have always been my passion, so I was really keen to open in a new centre offering the kind of products fitters and tradespeople require on a day-to-day basis. Hopefully from this, we will be the first name they remember when it comes to fitting a kitchen too.”

Grigg has worked in every position from a kitchen designer to a contract sales manager to his current position as branch manager.

He approached Benchmarx’s regional director with a proposal, and the won the support of the brand’s managing director to install the new centre.

This meant liaising with the Benchmarx project team to arrange the design and layout of the showroom, and promoted a colleague to a new position helping to run the door and flooring centre.

The new centre opened on March 7.
