Beaver gets on his bike for a Rainy Day

The managing director of Shropshire Building Supplies has vowed to make the arduous trek along with some friends and colleagues in aid of the industry charity the Rainy Day Trust.

The ride starts at Lands End on Tuesday May 6, ending nearly 1,000 miles later at John O’Groats on Saturday 17 May.

Beaver told buildersmerchantsjournal.net: “It’s a very big challenge, but it’s a great cause and a brilliant charity, so it will be worth it.

“A minibus is taking us to the start and then picking us up at the end, otherwise we are doing it all unsupported and carrying all of our own kit on the bikes.

“There are seven of us doing the whole route and one cycling from from Lands End to Church Stretton and swapping with another to do the Church Stretton to John O Groats leg, so eight people in total doing the route.”

BMJ will be following the tour’s progress and Beaver says that any help and support in the form of sponsorship or cheering from the sidelines along the route will be very gratefully received. We will be publishing the actual dates and route when they are finalized.
