Paint supplier Crown Trade has launched its own fantasy football competition for the 2014 FIFA World Cup with prizes up for grabs.
The free competition is open to all customers of Crown Trade, including merchants, decorators, contractors, specifiers, architects and end-users.
There are prizes to be won throughout the month long competition with a football shirt of the winner’s choice awarded to the manager with the most points each week.
The manager whose team top the overall table at the end of the World Cup will get to enjoy a city break of his or her choice up to the value of £2,000.
Debbie Orr, Crown Paints’ marketing manager, said: “Our new fantasy game will give football fans the chance to feel involved in the action themselves.
“We’re sure it will create some added interest for armchair fans watching events unfold at home.
“There’ll be some unbelievable players on show, but managers will have to pick their team very carefully and then judge when and where to make changes.
“There’s a lot of skill involved, along with an element of luck, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.”
Entrants will use a fantasy budget to pick their team of real-life players at the World Cup, which starts on June 12, and points will be scored based on their performances.
There are seven possible formations to choose from with a maximum of four players from any country and teams will be able to make transfers during the tournament.
Participants can pit their wits against players from all over the UK or take on friends and colleagues in a mini league.
