Andrew Richards in Paris to London charity cycle

Andrew Richards completed the 480km challenge in three days. He surpassed his original target of £1,000 for the 40tude charity, in aid of the specialist St Mark’s Hospital, in Harrow.

Richards said: “A friend whose father died of bowel cancer was keen to do it and I also saw it as a challenge to get myself fitter.

“The most rewarding part was seeing Buckingham Palace after three days of being in the saddle and 17 stone pressing onto it! But it was also special meeting the consultants and surgeons at St Mark’s Hospital, who cycled with us and talked so passionately about the good they do with the money raised.

“They have directly applied the cash received to furthering detection and treatment techniques so that hundreds, and soon to be thousands, around the world are having their lives saved. It’s truly awe-inspiring work and amazing to hear first-hand how positive the impact of charity money can be. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me in this challenge, they can be assured their donations have gone to a very worthwhile cause.”
