AirDesign UK Ltd fined after worker injured in machinery

After an employee suffered an injury to his left hand at work, AirDesign UK Ltd is fined for safety failings.
On March 10th 2015, Dudley Magistrates’ Court heard about AirDesign UK Ltd employee operating an unguarded notching machine when his finger became trapped in the machinery causing injury to his left hand which later needed amputating.

After pleading guilty to an offence under Regulation 11 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, on October 6th 2015, AirDesign UK Ltd was fined £2,000, and ordered to pay £632.68 in costs, with a victim surcharge of £120.

Karl Raw, HSE inspector, said: “The need to guard dangerous machinery is well known with established industry guidance available in relation to standards and methods.”
