Winner, winner, chicken dinner

Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort

There’s been a lot of celebrating excellence over the past few months.  In September we highlighted the best of the industry trainees at the BMF Members day Awards, while a couple of weeks ago we applauded heartily those suppliers who bagged the top gongs from the NBG. Later this week, of course, we’ll be cheering loudly for all those merchants nominated at the BMN event.

Which leads me neatly on the remind you, gentlest of readers, that nominations are now open for the BMJ Industry Awards 2019 .

Click HERE to nominate your favourite merchants, supplier brands, trainees, showrooms and industry people.

I know that I’m not the only one who had a jolly good time when we held the inaugral event back in May. Spending the day amongst some of  my favourite people, with a glass of fizz in my hand was always going to put a smile on my face, but not only that, I loved the fact that we could celebrate and highlight the very best that the industry has to offer.

We’ve made some changes this year, everything has to evolve. This year the Showroom category has been split into two: Merchant Kitchen and Bathroom Showroom of the Year and Merchant Showroom of the Year, while we’ve added Timber Merchant of the Year as a new category alongside the new ‘Diversity Award’. This will recognise a company that has demonstrated the conscious removal of bias and barriers and introduction of initiatives designed to encourage positive change and development throughout the business.

Companies and individuals can either nominate themselves or others – we don’t mind who is blowing whose trumpet, as long as the best of the industry gets its day in the limelight. Full criteria for all categories can be found on our BMJ Industry Awards website, along with the simple online entry and nomination form.

The event is supported by heavyweight industry names including Knauf Insuation, Hanson Cement, Rockwool, ACO, Marshalls and Lakes Bathrooms.

Get nominating, get entering and get your glad rags ready for Friday 17th May at the Brewery in Chiswell Street, London.

And, if you’ll forgive me swapping my Editor’s trilby for my sales manager’s flat-cap for a second, we also still have some fabulous sponsorship packages available. Drop me a line if you’re interested: frussell-horne@datateam.co.uk
