In recent years, properties across the country have been getting smaller to keep up with increased demand, meaning people are now turning to their gardens for extra living space.
Using expertise gained from manufacturing sound-reducing, timber noise barriers for motorways, BSW Timber has applied the same concepts to develop Soundshield™ acoustic fencing. This affordable and effective domestic acoustic fence panel system aims to reduce noise pollution in residential areas.
Soundshield™ is a modular, interlocking, acoustic fence system installed in two halves and secured together by two side fixing rails at either end of the panels. Side fixing rails also interconnect the panel system to the posts.
Sales Director at BSW Timber, Dave Chapman, explains: “We’re passionate about creating innovative products using our timber, so the problem of noise pollution gave us the perfect opportunity to identify and create a quality, affordable solution.”
This cost-effective product aims to curb noise pollution in residential environments and has been proven to reduce noise levels by up to 37 decibels in independent laboratory tests.
Chapman continues: “Soundshield™ combines sound damping technology within the panel’s core with a robust surface, which results in a large percentage of the sound source being reflected away. We, and our customers, are delighted with the result.”
To make replacing old fence panels more simple, the lightweight panels have been designed to fit between existing posts and are installed as modules, allowing users to give their garden a fresher look with ease.
In line with BSW Timber’s values, Soundshield™ fence panels are manufactured using timber from responsibly managed forests.
