Showerlux to be liquidated

Published: 24 August 2012
Bathroom product manufacturer Showerlux UK has announced that it ceased trading yesterday (August 23) making 16 staff in its Coventry head office redundant.
Tim Corfield of administrators Griffin & King will be dealing creditors with a view to putting the company into liquidation next month.

The company is owned by the Swiss Duscholux Group.

A press statement said that "as products became available to manufacture at a cheaper price from Asia, the Showerlux manufacturing facility ceased operation and the company was left with a core staff to import and sell to wholesalers and retail outlets".

Showerlux managing director, Bob Bowler said: "This is a sad day for the company, its staff, its customers and its suppliers. I am sure that the Group are exploring ways and means to provide an after sales service for our customers in the UK."

Corfield said it was too early to say what the outcome for creditors would be, but that he would be looking for offers for company's available assets.

I don't know the model name or product code, but It is at least 10-12 years old. For some reason the lights just packed up. Fitted new bulbs but no luck. The switch seems ok, so I can only assume it's the transformer. Can anyone help?

Can anyone advise where I can get spare parts from? The silly thing is, I only need to replace the rubber sealing ring on the pop up waste. I have tried everywhere - internet and Ebay etc. without success. The ring has 42mm outside diameter, 27 inside and is 5mm thick. It has code ABK embossed into it. I cannot use the bath as it is, and don't want to scrap it for the sake of a 2 rubber seal.

UPDATE - 18 months ago I posted a 'disaster' story when the curved glass screen 'exploded' - not having any luck in this country (I even contacted glass and window foundries)I contacted the parent company Duschlux in Switzerland and they they contacted their original contract foundry in Belgium who still had the pattern formers and made one specially for me! Magic! The whole transaction was co-ordinated with their UK agent Showersealspares - RESULT! Thanks guys. It just goes to show - buy a quality product from a 'big name' in the first place !!

Hi Lee - I suggest you have one made to fit - any competent joiner could make one - or research yacht chandlers online - duck boards are also found in boats and there are many companies that specialise in them. I don't think it'll be much of a problem - but they will need a pattern to work to - your old board?

Disaster! One of the curved 6mm toughened glass panels smashed today - part number G.081-01. It was installed 20 years ago and I'm devastated - there is nothing else like a Showerlux Europa! Has anyone any idea where I will be able to get a replacement? I'll have one made specially if I have too!

A company ruled by a director who lived by dividing and ruling. Guess he divided too much! Sorry to the staff but this was long on the cards.

Update on my request. The company replied to a further email today after I wrote my earlier message and it appears that I got my postcode wrong when ordering and items were returned to them. I would like to apologise to showersealspares for my earlier email and would like to thanks them for getting in touch and being understanding when it was my mistake.
Regards

Ordered spares from this company nearly 2 weeks ago. They emailed saying parts were dispatched a few days later. Still waiting. They are not replying to email request for info on delivery. Would appreciate a phone number for this
company if available as it's not on their website. Thanks in advance

I am just a retail customer & need a part also. I'm sorry I cannot help you, but maybe you have the part I need. It is for the slider/roller at the top of the sliding shower door. Part #20606. I got some a few months ago from the company but they had a different # and did not fit.

Unlucky or what? Obviously, I'm not now going to get the 2 x Vertical Seals (25254), the 2 x Screws (60010) and the 2 x Brush Seals (62223), which I ordered to refurb two shower doors, at 12:19pm on the 23rd August. I would be glad of a comment to help me get these parts and will duly keep my eye on this board in hope. Have also left my e-mail for a response to this comment, which might also be appropriate to others.

I was very sad to hear of the closing of Showerlux Uk - I was employed by them when the factory was in Rugby, it was the best period of employment I have ever had. Another great company with top quality products pushed aside by cheap imports. I wish Bob Bowler and his staff good fortune for the future.
