Welsh independent builders merchant Robert Price has added its 22nd branch with its latest acquisition.

The 170-year old company has bought Gower Timber, a timber merchant based in Penclawdd on the north side of the Gower peninsular. Holding a substantial range of timber and board products, it also stocks and sells a large array of general building materials. An onsite mill offers timber cutting, planing and a protimising treatment service.

Working closely with Robert Price’s existing mill at Taffs Well, Gower Timber will enhance and extend the company’s current timber specialisation, improving branch coverage in the western reaches of the network.  Robert Price also plans to further develop the builders’ merchant element of Gower Timber, working closely with the existing branch at Somerset Place, in Swansea city centre.

The additional five Gower Timber vehicles and drivers will improve and increase Robert Price’s transport capacity across the western and southern parts of its catchment area.

Gower Timber will continue to trade as a separate business under the Gower Timber banner but as branch 22 in The Robert Price Group, it will link closely with all the other branches.
