SQUIRE SECURES TOP ENVIRONMENTAL ACCREDITATION
Henry Squire & Sons Ltd has become one of the first independent lock manufacturers in the UK to achieve a prestigious environmental standard.
The company has been awarded ISO 14001environmental management system (EMS), an internationally recognised certificate accreditation that guarantees a quality approach to environmental management.
To secure ISO 14001, Henry Squire had to meet a number of exacting environmental requirements.
These included providing company-wide training to all of its staff on green issues and documenting and implementing energy efficiency programmes.
Environmentally-efficient waste management plans have been introduced, leading to the company’s steel, paper and card being recycled as well as its waste brass.
For Squire environment officer Tony Preston, the accreditation is testament to the firm’s progressive approach.
He said: "We are delighted to have achieved the ISO 14001 standard, and it is significant that we are one of the first independent lock manufacturers to be recognised in this way.
"This accreditation is yet another example of Squire's ongoing commitment to best practice and shows our environmental responsibility and commitment.
"Without doubt, ISO 14001 adds another string to our bow. It gives us an edge over our competitors and it is particularly rewarding to see a cultural shift among staff towards greener thinking."
