Irega gets a handle on Adjustable Wrench Safety
Irega – Europe’s leading specialist manufacturer of professional quality adjustable wrenches – has developed an innovative insulated wrench specifically for electrical applications.

This remarkable tool features a handle that offers the user unprecedented levels of protection. The flame-retardant insulation material has been specially selected for its mechanical, electrical and thermal properties - setting the Irega 92 apart from all other adjustable wrenches.
Each and every Irega 92 insulated wrench conforms to stringent IEC 900 and EN 60900 requirements and is individually tested to a nominal tension of up to 1,000V for alternating current and 1,500V for direct current!
The unique Irega handle is covered in three thick layers of hi-tech plastisol insulation - each a different colour: yellow, orange and red - denoting the respective safety levels. Insulation is guaranteed – as long as the red outer layer remains intact. If that outer layer is in any way compromised, for example by damage or deterioration, the orange middle layer will be exposed – a clear warning for the user to be careful. However, should the yellow inner layer become visible, it signifies it would be dangerous to continue using this wrench as an insulated hand tool - it should be replaced immediately.
In addition to the outstanding insulation properties of the Irega 92 handle, its ergonomic design, finger slip guards and secure non-slip grip help to ensure the user’s hand cannot accidentally come into direct contact with the metal head of the tool.
Available in four sizes, the chrome-finish Irega 92 insulated adjustable wrench can also safely be used within an impressive temperature range of –200C and +700C.
