The Builders Merchants Federation is the only body to represent the interests of the whole merchant industry throughout the UK in both heavyside and lightside activities. It is the industry's foremost authority on the building supply chain representing the merchant - supplier - contractor route to market.

BMF members benefit from many valuable services - everything from practical advice on up-selling building products at the trade counter to help in dealing with trading standards officers. BMF's mission is to help Members cope with all the legal, technical and bureaucratic issues that affect their businesses.

BMF is also the industry's leading provider of training for merchants, distributors and suppliers. BMF Training delivers a comprehensive selection of career development packages for everyone from school-leaver to national company director.

CRASH is the construction and property industry's charity.  We are a practical charity that channels the expertise, products and generosity of the industry to create places that care for people in homelessness projects and, from January 2016, hospices.

CRASH is unique in the way we create, renovate and construct caring environments for vulnerable people by:

  • Offering pro bono professional expertise
  • Sourcing building materials and the technical knowledge to use them
  • Awarding cash grants

Well-designed and expertly built environments have a positive effect on how we all feel and behave.  This is especially true for homeless, vulnerable or sick people and those who care for them.

NMBS is a centralised buying society with more than 660 Members, 1400 branches and more than £500 million in buying power.

Since 1963, NMBS has been dedicated to strengthening the independent merchant sector by continuously negotiating terms, rebates and special offers on their behalf.

Members are able to order direct from any NMBS approved supplier eliminating the need for a direct account. Being an industrial provident society, only NMBS running costs are retained, all other monies are returned to the membership via enhanced terms.

The Rainy Day Trust exists to care for people in difficult times who have worked in the hardware and housewares industry for more than ten years.
