Scottish boiler scrappage scheme likely to go through

Plumbers, builders merchants and plumbers merchants in Scotland are likely to see an increase in business if, as suggested today, the Scottish Parliament passes its Budget which includes a boiler scrappage scheme.

The BBC reports that Scottish ministers are likely to back the budget and announce a £2m plan to fund the replacement of older, inefficient boilers with new, high efficiency models. The scheme would give £400 help to anyone replacing the most inefficient category domestic boiler to £400 assistance.

A similar scheme, already running in England and being administered by the Energy Savings Trust, has had over 200,000 enquiries since its launch in mid-January.

To read more information about the scheme, take a look at our new boiler scrappage scheme pages.
