Kingspan launch new lambda valuesKingspan Insulation have improved the thermal performance on many of their product ranges.
Their premium performance rigid phenolic insulation Kooltherm range now has a lambda value as low as 0.020 W/m.K, whilst that of the high performance rigid urethane insulation Therma range is now 0.022 W/m.K, helping to achieve desired U-values with thinner products.
Research has shown that U-values of around 0.27 W/m2.K for walls, 0.22 W/m2.K for floors and 0.16 W/m2.K for all types of roof are at or around the best starting point for achieving a high level of energy efficiency. Some insulation materials require bulky thicknesses to reach these figures, which has the knock on effect of needing longer fixings, deeper studs etc, all of which adds to the cost. The very low lambda values offered by Kingspan's products mean that these U-values can easily be achieved and now with a thinner thickness than before.
Both Kooltherm and Therma products are suitable for a range of uses and their lowered lambda values will help to reduce the cost and required product thickness on both new build and refurbishment projects.
