TAPS, the plumbers merchant division of Thompson Building Centres have appointed Lee Kenney as their new managing director.

Formerly md with plumbing suppliers Comap Westco, Kenney’s 24 years’ experience in the industry includes roles with Mersey Plastics, Wolseley Group, bathroom company Spring Ram, Caradon Terrain and Hepworth Drainage.

Kenney will head up the TAPS businesses which include stores in Sunderland, Durham, Team Valley, Newcastle and South Shields and will also be sales and marketing director Thompson Building Centres.

“We are delighted to have Lee on board in the group and I am looking forward to the contribution he will make in driving new and exciting initiatives forward and growing the brands of TAPS and Thompsons,” said company md Anne Ganley.

Kenney is looking forward to the new challenge and said his vision for TAPS and Thompson’s “is to be a progressive, innovative merchant in quality products and availability.

We want to be a model employer with real family values, first choice for customers for materials and to be seen as a serious fit in the supply chain by our chosen and potential manufacturers’ and distributor partners,” he said.
