Builders merchant Jewson has signed up to be a sponsor of a major regional sports awards programme.

The Birmingham Sports Awards celebrates some of the best and brightest sportspeople from amateurs to professionals.

Jewson sales and marketing director John O’ Sullivan said: “As a business, we support a lot of grassroots sports teams as we feel it is important to support the communities in which we live and work. We also want to give a helping hand to up and coming talent.

“We support a wide range of different sports clubs from Aberdeen Wanderers Rugby Club, to Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey and Manningtree Girls Football Team.”

“Sports events are such a fantastic way to bring communities together to support and celebrate emerging talents in the local regions. They can also help to bring revenue to their local areas with the support and sponsorship of local businesses.”

This year Jewson have put their backing behind The Professional Young Sportsperson of the Year – a category which celebrates the success of young people, up to the age of 18, who are already embarking on a professional career in their sporting discipline.

O’ Sullivan said: “We want to celebrate emerging talent and those young sportspeople who put their heart and soul into being the best they can be. Ambition, drive and determination are values we hold dearly so are proud to champion those that display this ethos in the world of sport.”
