EH Smith “will assist rapidly-growing city development”

EH Smith, the Midlands-based independent builders’ merchant, is assisting the rapid growth of development in Birmingham by opening a new city centre branch.

EH Smith plan to open a new Birmingham city centre branch.

The Birmingham Central branch, just south of the immediate city centre, will create jobs and supply builders working on a wide range of new developments, including an express same-day delivery service.

Birmingham is undergoing rapid change as part of the Big City Plan, which began in 2010 and aims to transform an 800-hectare area around the city centre by 2031.

It has already seen the redevelopment of New Street Station and Central library, and will see a large amount of redevelopments and new builds over the coming decades, including new homes and office space.

EH Smith’s Birmingham Central branch, which will serve trade and DIY, is a three-quarter-acre site on Brighton Road, Birmingham, which EH Smith acquired late last year.

Due to open on March 5th with a week-long schedule of activities and promotions, the new branch will be packed with a huge range of products to serve the local builders and DIY enthusiasts.

The branch will feature a Dulux paint mixing machine and a team of highly-trained and friendly staff will be on hand to advise and assist.

Marc Fearn, the Birmingham Central branch manager, who has been with EH Smith since 2005 when he joined the company as a delivery driver, said: “There is so much development going on in Birmingham and builders need somewhere close to the city centre where they can find what they want quickly, get any expert advice, and get on with the job.

“Offering same-day deliveries to local developments means that builders won’t even have to leave site, allowing them to concentrate on what’s important. “Birmingham is changing as a city and we want to play our part in it, helping generate investment into the centre.”
