Biffa lorry crashes into Jewson branch

The Watford branch of builders merchant Jewson has a Biffa truck wedged in its warehouse, holding the roof up.
The Biffa truck was collecting waste from the Jewson building in Watford when it crashed yesterday morning (19th November).

It hasn’t been removed yet because it is “holding the roof up”, according to branch manager Sam Williamson.

The branch was temporarily closed for about two hours and the area around the building has been cornered off to allow a survey of the premises to take place.

Williamson told the Watford Observer that the driver had attempted to drive through the warehouse with the lifting mechanism in a raised position.

“This has brought a concrete beam weighing several tones crashing down on to the vehicle.”

Biffa said it was carrying out an investigation into the crash. No one was in the warehouse at the time.
